1. Welcome kits: You will receive two letters approximately 2 weeks from funding, one from GMAC Bank for the transactional (banking) component of your account, and one from GMAC Mortgage for the line of credit (loan) side of your account. Be sure to mail back the signature card back to GMAC Bank.

2. Checking components: Checks and your ATM/Visa card arrive within 7-10 business days from the welcome letters. The PIN for the ATM card will arrive separately for security purposes.

3. Online Access / Bill-Pay: Once your welcome letter arrives, you should call the GMAC Bank Customer Care team at 800-648-5508 and get your online access information (username and temporary password). The Customer Care Representative can assist you with enrolling in bill pay and setting up your external accounts. Once you have your log-in information you can log on at www.gmacbank.com.

4. Deposits: They are what make this account work. The key to saving interest is to drive down your principal balance (even temporarily) by flowing any cash you aren’t using right now into your account. If your employer sponsors direct deposit, you should set up direct deposit as soon as your account is activated. If direct deposit is not available through your employer, you’ll need to set up transfers online using the transfer feature of your online account access. Be SURE to direct all deposits through the BANK side of your account.

5. Withdrawals: You can write unlimited checks, up to your credit line limit. You can use the ATM card up to $750 per business day, and up to 8 times per month surcharge free (surcharges will be rebated). After that there will be a foreign bank surcharge and a GMAC Bank surcharge. The card can also be used as a Visa point-of-sale card, up to $5,000 per business day, and does not count against your 8 free ATM transactions.

6. Statements: Since there are two components involved with Accelerator, you will receive two statements (these will ultimately be combined in a future release), one from GMAC Bank and one from GMAC Mortgage. The bank cycles on the 9th of the month and the mortgage cycles on the 10th of the month. See the Quick-Start CD for an explanation of how the transactions on these will appear.

7. Additional Account Names: Adding an authorized account user may be done where the authorized account user being added is not a co-mortgagee. You should contact GMAC Bank at 800-648-5508. They will send you Form HOA-AA (Additional Account User Agreement) to complete, sign, and have notarized. Important: your signature card must be on file at GMAC Bank.

8. Old Accounts: We recommend you leave your old checking account in place so that you have a place to cash checks locally and make manual deposits that can be transferred directly into the Accelerator using its online features.

9. Security: Keep your passwords safe and never share them with anyone. Beware of criminals who use official-looking “phishing” e-mails asking for your password. You will never receive an e-mail from CMG or GMAC Bank requesting you to provide your password. GMAC Bank’s customer care team uses the personal information you provided during the loan process to identify you. Some clients have had trouble accessing their account when incorrect information was entered on the loan application. If you suspect that this has happened, call the CMG Client Liaison for help.

10. Account Questions: If you have questions about how your account works or how to maximize the benefit of your account, you should call or email the CMG Client Liaisons at 866-659-8989 or fill out our form. The Client Liaisons cannot access your account directly. For questions about specific transactions in your account, you should call GMAC Bank customer care at 800-648-5508 or call the GMAC Mortgage customer care team at 866-346-3640. Please only call dedicated numbers.
